ViaSofia is your place for road wisdom.
Building on the evidence-based iRAP Global Standard for Risk Mapping and Star Rating that is specified by UN Member States and used in over 100 countries worldwide, ViaSofia connects corporates and communities with the wisdom of road infrastructure data.
What is ViaSofia?
ViaSofia is a visionary project with a twofold purpose. Firstly, it serves as a centralized platform that brings together valuable information about AiRAP data suppliers, offering comprehensive details on accreditation and the process to become a supplier. The aim is to provide a seamless and accessible experience for all interested parties, ensuring they have the necessary information to engage with AiRAP data effectively.
Secondly, ViaSofia aims to foster collaboration and synergy within the road safety domain by creating a flexible and dynamic ecosystem. By bringing together various stakeholders in the field of road safety, the platform creates an environment where ideas, expertise, and resources can be shared. This collaborative approach drives innovation and propels the road safety sector towards more effective and impactful solutions.
In essence, ViaSofia plays a pivotal role in promoting transparency, knowledge-sharing, and networking, facilitating a more cohesive and united effort towards safer roads and improved road safety outcomes.
What is AiRAP?
Data has become increasingly vital in addressing the global road safety crisis, as evidenced by the UN Second Decade of Action’s goal to halve fatal and serious injury road crashes by 2030. To achieve this, it is crucial to integrate the tools and methods for assessing and mitigating high-risk roads into all aspects of road network planning, design, investment, construction, management, and maintenance.
The AiRAP initiative was conceived by iRAP in 2019 to enhance access to and utilization of diverse data sources, including cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, vision systems, LIDAR, telematics, and others, on a global scale. AiRAP, short for ‘accelerated and intelligent’ road safety-related data capture, employs automatic, repeatable, and scalable methods to support road safety assessment, crash risk mapping, and investment prioritization for all road users.
iRAP’s newly introduced AiRAP accreditation ensures that data adheres to iRAP’s globally recognized standard, which is already utilized worldwide for recording road features impacting road safety, streamlining processes, and facilitating performance benchmarking.
